A twice-yearly letterpress magazine that aims to please, The Lumberyard is the hottest place for swinging poetry and totally wasted design. We’ve pulled out our tape measures and drawn out the plans, rounded up some fine poets and designers, and put it all together to construct a place for you to enjoy.
Lumberyard was born out of the minds of two rural children climbing the rafters and rolling in the sawdust of a lumber supply shed in the 1970s. Their father was a carpenter, a man of hammer and nail, always a tape measure hooked to his belt. His trade: perfection. The children watched his hands and dreamed they, too, might grow up and make something beautiful. Their tools would be those of ink and paper, of word and symbol, signifier and signified. Their medium: Lumberyard magazine, a collaborative project combining the art of letterpress and the literary arts.
We seek to build a new platform for the arts to speak to the world–to bring literary and visual artistry together, creating a portal for all to enter, experience, and be uplifted in our limited human journey towards understanding. We hope you will dive into these pages feet first, get sopping wet, and come back for more.
The Lumberyard is a collaboration between brother and sister duo, Eric and Jen Woods, with curatorial services provided by Typecast Poetry Editor, Lindsey Alexander.

SUBMISSIONS
We highly recommend interested poets read an issue of the magazine before deciding to submit, as our magazine presents poetry in a very unique and distinct way. After inspecting what we do, during our periodic open submissions periods, writers can submit no more than three poems to blondone@typecastpublishing.com. Due to the high volume of submissions we receive, we can only respond to those works we accept for publication. Because of this, we do allow simultaneous submissions, just please let us know if your work gets picked up elsewhere so that we can celebrate your publication and update our records.
SUBMISSIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED.
PLEASE CHECK BACK OR JOIN OUR FACEBOOK PAGE FOR DATES WHEN SUBMISSIONS RE-OPEN.
